Media Issues joins Guild of Corporate Online publishers

Media Issues, an online newspaper published by Media Issues Limited has joined the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP), an umbrella body of online newspapers.

At a colourful ceremony held during the 3rd Annual Conference by GOCOP at the Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos on Friday, October 4, 2019, Media Issues along with twelve other online newspapers were inducted by GOCOP as members.

The new inductees were advised by the President of the Guild, Dotun Oladipo to uphold high ethical journalism standards at all times in the course of discharging their editorial duties to the public.

Earlier, the new executive of GOCOP led by Dotun Oladipo were sworn in for a second-term of two years.  The new officers are Dotun Oladipo, Publisher, The Eagle Online (President), Maureen Chigbo, Publisher, Real News Magazine (Deputy President), Danlami Nmodu, Publisher, Newsdiaryonline (General Secretary) and Collins Edomoruse, Publisher, Metrowatch Online (Deputy General Secretary).

Others are Olumide Iyanda, Publisher, QED (Publicity Secretary), Segun Adeleye, Publisher, World Stage Online (Financial Secretary), and Janet Mba Afolabi, Publisher, Scroll Magazine (Treasurer).

The event which attracted several dignitaries had Rt. Hon. Seriake Dickson, Governor of Bayelsa State, as Chief Guest of Honour while His Lordship, the Bishop of Sokoto Catholic Diocese, Dr. Matthew Hassan Kukah, was the Keynote Speaker.

The Chairman of the occasion was Bayo Onanuga, former Managing Director of News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) and Managing Director of The News Group and the discussants were Mike Ejiofor, former Director, Department of State Security Services (DSS) and Professor Akpan Hogan Ekpo, former Director-General, West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management (WAIFEM).
