President Buhari promises to end sufferings of boko haram victims

  

Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari has again expressed determination to end the sufferings of victims Boko Haram insurgency in the country.

President Buhari made the pledge Tuesday at the opening ceremony of a three day International Conference on ‘Boko Haram and Its Phenomenon’ organized by the Center for Islamic Civilization and Interfaith Dialogue, Bayero University, Kano.

The President stated that he is pained by sufferings of the victims stressing: “The act of Boko Haram has been a source of pain and anguish to all Nigerians; it hurts us all directly or indirectly.”

“The government is committed to ending the activities of the Boko Haram sect soon and that will end the sufferings of the people,” emphasized Buhari.

He said the nation is challenged by the devastating effects of the sect as it affects both individuals and groups.

He urged participants at the conference to search for ways for peaceful resolution of the Boko Haram crisis by drawing out the fault lines and identify signs that will end the phenomena.

President Buhari was represented at the event by the Minister of Interior, Major General, Abdulrahaman Danbazzau (rtd).

The governor of Kano state, Dr Umar Ganduje called on the participant to look at issues bothering on moral, religion, parenting, youth education, skills acquisition and use of technological innovation as means that can be used to combat the insurgency.

He said: “The state committed well over N500 million naira in purchasing modern equipment for security operatives to track Boko Haram activities leading to subsequent arrest of commanders and others members, which really downgraded their activities in the ancient city.”
