Fayemi fires Ekiti varsity VC, others

Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi has  fired  the heads of three higher institutions in the state.

A statement  by  the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor Yinka Oyebode listed those affected as the Vice-Chancellor of Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, Prof Sam  Bandele;  Chief Medical Director of Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Dr Kolawole Ogundipe; and Provost of the College of Education, Ikere Ekiti, Prof Mojisola Oyarekua.

The statement also said the governor had approved an immediate constitution of  the governing councils  of  EKSU, EKSUTH, COE, College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ijero,  and  the Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State.

It said, “As approved by the State Executive Council, the governing councils’ immediate task is the implementation of the approved recommendations of the White Papers.”

The statement added that Fayemi  had directed that “the most senior officials are to take over the running of the institutions pending the appointment of substantive heads.

“In the case of EKSU, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Prof Olubunmi Ajayi, is to take charge in an acting capacity pending the appointment of a substantive VC by the Governing Council.

“The governor also approved the appointment of Mrs Folakemi Falore as the Sole Administrator of  CHST.”

The governor named Prof Bamitale Omole  as the leader of the EKSU Governing Council, while  Chief Oluwole Ojo, Prof Adebayo Olukoshi, Prof Funmi Olonisakin, Prof Okey Onyejekwe, Mrs Foluso Olaniyan, Dr Amina Salihu, Mrs Mope Akerele, Prof Funso Falade and Mr Matthew Imoru are members.

Dr Dare Teniola  is the chairman of EKSUTH.

Fayemi also constituted a three-member for BSES board headed by Mr Segun Omolayo. Mr Gbenga Aruleba and Mr Kunle Olofin are members.
