A 32 years old mother of four, has allegedly murdered her own four children, using a sledgehammer. The woman who hails from Tsalaba Village in the Eastern Cape of South Africa has thrown the community into shock.
It is alleged that the mother said she wanted to make sure that she didn’t leave her kids behind when she dies. However, Media Issues gathered her action may not be unconnected with mental health challenge.
The ages of the children were two, five, nine and 11 years old. Those of school-going age were pupils at Gulandoda Primary School.
According to report by News24, the woman has been arrested and she is expected to be charged with murder, and to appear in Engcobo Magistrates’ Court.
Eastern Cape police said they were investigating the murder case following the death of the four children on Wednesday morning.
Eastern Cape police spokesperson Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana says: “In the morning, the four deceased bodies of the children were found in the Rondavel hut, where they were sleeping. The preliminary investigation reveals that they had been assaulted by their own mother with a sledgehammer. Consequently, they suffered serious injuries to the upper bodies.”
Kinana said the circumstances surrounding the deaths would form part of the investigation.
