The Aret Adams Foundation has announced plans to establish a new professorial chair for Geology in line with its philosophy of promoting and building educational capacity for the growth of the oil and gas industry, and the Nigerian economy in general. The professorial chair is to be instituted at the University of Ibadan.

The Foundation has also initiated efforts at raising funds for this purpose, and proposals have been communicated to industry professionals to identify and support the Foundation’s drive at promoting scholarship and advocacy on topical issues affecting the nation.

This was disclosed recently by Engr. Charles Osezua, Chairman, Board Of Trusteee, Aret Adams Foundation.  He said though proposals for funds have been sent to industry professionals, “we would prefer a single sponsor”.  He added that the Foundation would also “be glade to receive your proposal to co-sponsor this all important Chair.”

According to Osezua, “this advocacy is in pursuit of excellence for which Aret lived and was known. The Foundation with your help and contributions continues to work in various ways to keep the ideals of the man, Aret Adams, alive, through scholarships, research and advocacy.”

Two existing professorial chairs had been established.  One is at the University of Port-Harcourt, Rivers State for Petroleum Engineering and it is sponsored by Shell Petroleum Development Company.  The other is the Professorial Chair for Enterprise and Business Development established at the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma. It is sponsored by Niger Delta Exploration and Production Company Limited.
